Alistaire L.
Private tutor in Independence, MO
Education
Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY
Experience
I want to be a tutor because, quite simply, I love to teach. I enjoy working one-on-one with young people, utilizing my knowledge of the Writing field to encourage upcoming generations of writers and helping them to hone their skills and understand their craft. I focus on working at word-level, choosing words and phrases to construct the best, most effective possible sentences. Upon graduating last Spring, I received the 2014 Fiction Thesis Prize, awarded to me for an outstanding senior thesis and critical introduction. I also received the Pratt Circle Award for Academic Excellence, graduated with honors, and maintained President's List positions for three years in a row.

Hobbies
My hobbies include theatre, music (ukulele!), and visual arts-- particularly illustration and photography. I love Halloween and "spooky" things, such as horror movies and ghost stories. I take particular interest in social issues such as feminism and gender studies and have attended large-scale protest events in the past. I also have three cats, a tarantula, and a betta fish. I might come off as "odd" or "eccentric," but I assure you, I'm very friendly!
