I have a strong interest in culture and religion. For years, I have studied the differences between these concepts and other social or personal issues. I have always been curious about what drives and distinguishes the different segments of the human race, and I am very open to different perceptions of thought and knowledge among people of varied backgrounds. My work experience involves serving the Kansas City Interfaith Council. This job exposes me to so many of varying faith and nationalities. I have developed a viewpoint of tolerance and understanding. Thus, I desire to work with students of all backgrounds. I don't care where you're from or what belief set you adhere to, I will respect every unique facet of your lifestyle.My opinion is that learning occurs best when applied to real life situations. My familiarity with different beliefs has equipped me to be able to relate students to the educational material. Aside from being relevant, information has to be clear and in depth. The academic relationship between student and teacher is reciprocal. It should not be viewed as a dynamic where one side must submit to the other. Both individuals will learn from each other under ideal circumstances. I feel that all people deserve respect. This means that I regard my students as human beings, full of worth and potential. As a world society, we must work toward the advancement of education.
